Prosperidad is known in the province and the region as the land of many waterfalls. Binaba, Bega and Tugunan waterfalls are the most scenic and popular waterfalls in the province. Prosperidad is also known for other natural attractions such as underground river and hot springs.
These scenic spots, however, are still raw and lacking of any developments to attract visitors that could vitalize a tourism industry for the municipality.
To vitalize the tourism industry , the Department of Tourism have identified “Tourism Development Areas (TDA’s) “ in various parts of the country which would be prioritize for development.
Unfortunately, Prosperidad was not identified as TDA .
However, with its scenic spots and natural attractions, Prosperidad has the potential to generate tourist traffic to the area, eventually, developing itself into a major tourist destination.
Development of tourism industry would bring about a good source of income for the people and the community. Tourism development could also be viewed as :
- A means to enhance the value of agriculture and forest resources;
- An alternative to destructive agricultural and forestall activities, and;
- An alternative to traditional uses of the land that would only yield marginal production and income.
Generally, tourism areas are endowed with natural or manmade physical attributes and resources that are conducive to recreation, leisure and other wholesome experiences and are intended for use by the travelers and tourists.
These resources can be characterized at two levels: the first level of touristic resources are the natural and cultural characteristics indigenous to the area; the second level are the attractions, activities and facilities needed to draw, entertain and accommodate the tourists and travelers to the area.

Prosperidad tourism development potential is basically based on its scenic natural resources. Thus, this sector’s development would be the anchor for ECO-TOURISM development.
